I have always been told be careful for what you ask for because you might just get it. Nobody would like to have God pass judgment on them especially in a negative way. The Bible is full of instances of God’s judgment and punishment. With this being the case why are we always asking God to judge us. We may not realize it but every time we say the Lord’s prayer that is exactly what we are doing. In the middle of the prayer it says “and forgive us our trespasses as we forgive them that trespass against us”.

Listed a look at this and see what is really saying, most of us at without even really thinking about the meaning. We are asking God to forgive us our trespasses or sins as we forgive those who trespass against us. In other words if we don’t forgive others of their trespasses then we are asking, in no uncertain terms, for God to judge us in like manner. Remember this next time you say the Lord’s prayer, take it very seriously because God does.
